8/17/07 - TRYOUTS for the fall 8th grade Orinda Magic team will begin on Thursday, Aug. 30 from 7-9 p.m. at Pine Valley Middle School in San Ramon. The address for Pine Valley is 3000 Pine Valley Rd., San Ramon, CA 94583. The team will compete in AAU tournaments from September to February. Coach DJ is looking for committed players who want to play on a competitive and fun team while focusing on their individual development. Fees for the fall will come to $250. Arrangements can be made.

Team News
8/9/07 - Plans for an 8th grade Orinda Magic team this fall are underway. Coach Darrell and Coach DJ will be organizing and coaching the team. Tryouts will take place the first weekend of September, details to follow.
5/1/07 - The schedule for the Pacific AAU District Chamopionships in Reno has been posted. Check the 13 Gold bracket on the Jam On It website for a full schedule. The Gold Team's first game is at 11:40 a.m. vs. the Stockton Mustangs on court 3. Win or lose, the next game will be at 5 p.m.. Scroll down for updated practice and tourney schedule.
April - The Gold Team took the consolation championship at both the EBX Spring Showcase and Mission Rec Spring Tourney the last two weekends of April, after finishing second in the 9th grade bracket at the Strictly Hoops Spring Classic earlier in the month. The team started the season ravaged by injury and absence at the Petaluma Shootout on 3/31-4/1, never playing with more than six players at a time, having only two players available for all three games, and even being forced to finish the final quarter of one game with four players after injuries struck once again, sidelining two players. Somehow the four remaining players; Stephanie Palomino (playing on a sprained ankle), Gina DelBene (battling the flu), Alyssa Johanson (bleeding from blisters on her feet), and Amber Edmond (exhausted from playing nearly every minute of the tournament); were able to hold the lead on their opponents and come up with a hard fought victory in the end.
The spring 2007 Orinda Magic Gold Team has been selected, and the season is officially underway. Darrell Hirashima, Jr. will coach this team. Wednesday, March 21st from 5-7 p.m. at Wagner is the first practice. March 31-April 1 in Santa Rosa is the first tournament. There will be 7 Bay Area tourneys (except Reno) between then and the end of May. Fees for the spring are $800; this covers tournament entry fees, practice gym fees, equipment, coaches and any additional costs. Please make checks out to Orinda Magic. Payments can be handed to either Darrell Sr. or Darrell Jr., or mailed to: Orinda Magic, 16 Ridge Ln., Orinda, CA, 94563. Please make payments or arrangements for payment before the first tournament.
